This cake was a bit different for me – first of all, it’s not ivory! Most of my cakes tend to be either white or ivory with the colour coming from the accents, be it sugar flowers, ribbons or other decoration. This time, the cake was the colour, with a subtle ombre gradient in the purples.
Hazel had seen a picture online of a cake she loved, and asked if I could create something similar but more in line with what she wanted for her wedding. I created a three tier version and we changed the flowers to lotus flowers to reflect the groom Kevin’s heritage.
The cake was delivered to and set up at The Fleece Inn in Ripponden for their special day. We displayed the cake on a silver cake stand and had a couple of gluten free cupcakes for those with dietary requirements.
Hazel told me she had a perfect day – apart from when Kevin had forgotten the rings! Cue a mad dash for a family member back to the house to collect them, and a 20 minute pause in proceedings. Luckily the rings were found!
