In need of some wedding cake inspiration for your micro wedding? You’re in the right place!

Micro weddings have really come to the forefront this year, for obvious reasons. The pandemic and subsequent government restrictions imposed on weddings have meant growing levels of uncertainty amongst couples, especially as there is no clear end in sight. With this in mind, many couples are opting to have a micro wedding, taking advantage of the restrictions on guest numbers to have a small, intimate wedding. It also means that couples get the choice of having a larger party when restrictions allow, stretching the celebration out even longer.

Smaller weddings are by no means inferior to larger weddings. Your day will still be amazing, maybe more so because you are sharing with your chosen few, rather than many guests you won’t even get chance to speak to. You don’t have to invite your gran’s next door neighbour (sorry Pat) or that girl you worked with ten years ago!
There are a few options for your cake. You can have a large cake, which will look stunning on your photos, and either have dummy tiers or real tiers, and send the cake out to guests who couldn’t be there on the day.

You could also have a smaller version of your originally planned weding cake. T&L were originally opting for a three tier cake for their wedding, however they decided to have a smaller two tier version for their micro wedding which looked just as stunning as the three tier would have done. This was one of my favourite cakes to make this year – it’s definitely my colour scheme!

Despite the Prime Minister mentioning that next summer will be “a different world” to now, the uncertainty is still there. If you are planning your wedding, would you consider a micro wedding?
