How’s this for a beautiful semi-naked wedding cake? Tom and Amy got married over the weekend at the beautiful Durker Roods Hotel in the picturesque village of Meltham, just outside Holmfirth. I was honoured to be asked to create their wedding cake, especially as the brief was such a brilliant one!
The couple wanted to incorporate beautiful seasonal fresh flowers into their cake design. They had asked talented local grower and florist Alison from Flowers from the Garden to supply their floral arrangements, made up of stunning seasonal flowers including roses, geraniums and astrantia. I dressed the cake using some of Alison’s beautiful fresh flowers and snuck a few macarons on there too to add extra pops of colour. I love the colours of this cake. The flowers add such a zingy cherry feel!
Alison also supplied flowers for decorating the hotel and for the place names too, which incorporated a simple lavender flower. Sometimes something simple is all you need.
Tom and Amy chose to display their cake on our rustic tree stump cake stand, and had macarons as favours for their guests too. I love their use of a picnic hamper to collect cards!
As it’s the school holidays, I had my little helper with me. She managed to photobomb a few of my images!
Sending love and congratulations to Amy and Tom, and I wish them all the best for their honeymoon in Cyprus. The weather there will definitely better than what we have here at the moment!
