Bright Botanical Wedding Cake at East Riddesden Hall
Way back in June I was thrilled to be invited to take part in a styled shoot at the amazingly characterful East Riddlesden Hall. East Riddlesden Hall is a National Trust property with a wealth of history. Weddings take place in the beautiful Airedale Barn, complete with fairy lights and as much character as you could possibly want.
Caitlin + Jones are the amazing photographers behind these images – go check out their website if you are looking for a wedding photographer in West Yorkshire.
Here are a few of my favourites from the day. There’s a full list of suppliers at the end of the post. There are also more images on Rock My Wedding, with this styled shoot featuring on there.

Wedding Cakes at Woodsome Hall Golf Club, Huddersfield by White Rose Cake Design
Our Wedding Cakes at Woodsome Hall!
This Sunday saw us load up the trusty 206 to take our wedding cakes to the beautiful Woodsome Hall Golf Club. I grew up in the village just up the road from here, but had never been in (I’m not a golfist) so when Kirsti from Whimsical Events said she was organising the fair, it was too good an opportunity to miss!
A beautiful marquee was the setting for the fair, with venue styling by Whimiscal Events. Check out this lantern display!
For our display this time, we hired in a beautiful vintage dressing table from Suzanne Oddy Design. She and her gorgeous little assistant Jack dropped it off and collected it again at the end of the day – if you need any event prop hire, Suzanne is the lady to speak to! Jane from Woo B Woo created a beautiful greenery inspired floral display for one of the drawers of the dressing table which really set the whole thing off.
Here are a few snaps from the fair – I felt the photography pressure being next to Nicola from Nicky Clicks Wedding Photography though! Her work is amazing.
Massive thanks to Kirsti from Whimsical Events for organising such a brilliant wedding fair. Here’s to the next one! x
Game of Thrones Inspired Wedding Cake for a Styled Shoot
Game of Thrones right? EVERYONE I know loves this show, and whether it’s the styling or the storylines, you can’t escape it. Here are some quite frankly STUNNING images by Lianne Gray Photography from a recent styled shoot, combining the Scandinavian feel of Game of Thrones with natural boho styling. We created a Game of Thrones inspired wedding cake for the shoot. The setting was the beautiful barn at Appletreewick’s Craven Arms.
Our cake was inspired by the cool icy tones associated with the Scandi style, finished with some edible gold leaf for a touch of luxury. A torn paper effect to the base tier adds further interest. This Game of Thrones inspired wedding cake was styled beautifully by Sarah from Farm on a moss base. The candles add a real lovely glow.
Check out this gorgeous stationery from Carolyn at Gray Starling Designs. She also created the amazing scrolls on the table and the wall hanging, which is an amazing idea for a table seating plan.
Skye from the Whimsical Cake Company put together a stunning dessert table which was further enhanced by the styling from Farm. The flowers used were all locally grown seasonal flowers from Wild Bee Flower Farm and included the most gorgeous dahlias.
This shoot featured on Junebug Weddings (Eeep!) and more of these beautiful images can be found here: http://junebugweddings.com/wedding-blog/this-game-of-thrones-wedding-inspiration-is-the-cure-to-your-westeros-withdrawals/

Wedding Cake with Fresh Flowers and Macarons at The Craiglands Hotel
Wedding Cake with Fresh Flowers and Macarons
I delivered this wedding cake with fresh flowers and macarons to the Craiglands Hotel, Ilkey. It’s a beautiful building that can accommodate weddings with a large number of guests. The staff are really friendly and Harriet (the wedding coordinator) is so helpful.
This is one of my favourite styles of cake to make. Three sleek iced white tiers, coated with ganache and artisan sugarpaste then dressed with beautiful fresh flowers and home made macarons. I love the colours of hot pink! The cake was displayed on a crystal stand provided by the bride and groom and had some sparkly crystals scattered around.
Aneesa and her husband had chosen flavours of toffee, vanilla and chocolate for their cake. This wedding cake with fresh flowers and macarons was a joy to make!
Isn’t this the most beautiful room? I’ve got serious chandelier envy.
Huge congratulations to the happy couple! x
PS – I LOVED this sign. I got married in the days before Instagram and Facebook etc but I would definitely have had this!

Jewel Toned Modern Wedding Cake – Asian Fusion Styled Shoot at Cutlers Hall, Sheffield
When the brief for this styled shoot landed, I couldn’t wait! Laura and Kym from Once Upon a Wedding came up with a stunning brief for us all. Modern, Asian fusion, jewel tones – sounds divine! Think Indian summer meets traditional English wedding. Our jewel toned modern wedding cake with accents of gold and macarons fitted in perfectly. The setting was just amazing. Cutlers Hall is a magnificent building chock full of history and with some of the grandest chandeliers and original features I’ve seen. It’s centrally located in Sheffield city centre and is the perfect venue for a sumptuous wedding.
Here are some of the stunning images from Lianne Gray Photography and Benjamin Pollard Photography. Full list of supplier credits at the end of the post.
Anna from Anna’s Attic created a sumptuous low level tablescape using brass, jewel toned flowers and beautiful candles. Comfy cushions in a variety of textures and colours complete the look. Lisa from Lisa Jayne Stationery had some incredible laser cut stationery in tones and colours which perfectly matched the scheme. The flowers for the base of the cake were from Polkadot Florists and were stunning. The models wore stunning dresses from Susannah Greening and Sassi Holford at The White Room. The stunning hairstyles were created by Kirby Blythe and the make up was by Pose Sheffield. The models also had intricate mehndi by Mendhi by Iram.
This styled shoot also featured on Whimsical Wonderland Weddings, so for more images pop over there! There are more images on Benjamin Pollard‘s blog too.

Blush Pink Floral Semi-Naked Wedding Cake at East Riddlesden Hall
This weekend saw the wedding of Chloe and Steve, and we provided their blush pink floral semi-naked wedding cake. They chose the beautiful setting of East Riddlesden Hall for their celebrations and an utterly dreamy colour scheme of pinks and greenery.
Chloe says they tried to make their wedding true to them – one big laidback party with celebrating with family and friends. When Holly and I arrived to set up the wedding cake, most of the other suppliers had already set their bits up, and it looked as though it would be an amazing wedding! Games on the lawn provided by Add Vintage, a photobooth from Booth Revolution and music from The Warning Tones all set the tone for a fabulous fun day. We provided the beautiful blush pink floral semi-naked wedding cake.
The couple chose Lynne from Stems Design to dress the barn at East Riddlesden Hall for them, and it looked stunning. A silver birch arch was to be the backdrop for the ceremony. Lighting from Typical Type intertwined with the greenery in the barn, and the heart shaped light behind the wedding cake was fabulous!
Chloe chose a three tier wedding cake finished in the ever popular semi-naked style, dressed with some fresh flowers from Stems and some macarons. I made the macarons in a beautiful pink colour which tied in perfectly with the overall scheme.
These guys made an appearance too, out on the lawns of East Riddlesden Hall!
Wishing Chloe and Steve love and happiness, and hope they have an amazing time honeymooning in America! Lucky things x
Ballet Inspired Blush and Copper Bridal Photoshoot at Chapelgarth Estate, Great Broughton
Get ready to swoon over these images of our blush and copper bridal photoshoot…
Way back at the start of the year, Alison from Alison Jane Bridal and I took a road trip up to the beautiful Chapelgarth Estate in Great Broughton to meet up with a bunch of super talented wedding industry suppliers. Little did we know what magic we would create! Beautiful colours of blush and copper, textures and a dreamy romantic air – just gorgeous. Here are some of the pictures from that day, shot by Arabella Smith Photography.

Here at White Rose Cake Design, our cakes are created with love and care and we hope this comes across in our work. We were thrilled to be nominated for these awards, and now to reach the finals! We couldn’t have got to this point without our past brides and grooms taking the time to cast a vote for us, so to all of those who have voted a massive THANK YOU.
Rustic Semi-Naked Wedding Cake with Fresh Flowers at Durker Roods Hotel
How’s this for a beautiful semi-naked wedding cake? Tom and Amy got married over the weekend at the beautiful Durker Roods Hotel in the picturesque village of Meltham, just outside Holmfirth. I was honoured to be asked to create their wedding cake, especially as the brief was such a brilliant one!
The couple wanted to incorporate beautiful seasonal fresh flowers into their cake design. They had asked talented local grower and florist Alison from Flowers from the Garden to supply their floral arrangements, made up of stunning seasonal flowers including roses, geraniums and astrantia. I dressed the cake using some of Alison’s beautiful fresh flowers and snuck a few macarons on there too to add extra pops of colour. I love the colours of this cake. The flowers add such a zingy cherry feel!
Alison also supplied flowers for decorating the hotel and for the place names too, which incorporated a simple lavender flower. Sometimes something simple is all you need.
Tom and Amy chose to display their cake on our rustic tree stump cake stand, and had macarons as favours for their guests too. I love their use of a picnic hamper to collect cards!
As it’s the school holidays, I had my little helper with me. She managed to photobomb a few of my images!
Sending love and congratulations to Amy and Tom, and I wish them all the best for their honeymoon in Cyprus. The weather there will definitely better than what we have here at the moment!
