Recently I attended the wedding fair organised by the amazing ladies from The Bridal Market at The Arches, Dean Clough, Halifax. This gorgeous space is a perfect blank canvas, meaning you can have your wedding day exactly how you would like it! It’s a beautiful former mill building full of character. Imagine the most gorgeous fairy lights running all across the high ceilings, vaulted ceilings, exposed brickwork and stonework – it’s got to be seen to be believed.
I had a little stall there, and for every wedding fair I attend I always make a naked wedding cake. These types of wedding cakes are still incredibly popular! It must be to do with the versatility of them. Dress them with flowers, gold leaf, macarons, sweets, donuts – pretty much anything goes with them, and I love that. A semi-naked finish provides just enough of a canvas for us cake makers to work on 🙂
For this one, I knew I wanted fresh flowers. I had a little look at what was in my garden (hello wild garlic and lavender!) and teamed this with a few pink roses and some astrantia. The pink of the roses set off the rose gold drips perfectly, and I finished the look with some little wooden dolly toppers and “LOVE” from a wooden Scrabble letter set. Displayed on a tree stump, with our golden hoop trimmed with some more foliage from my garden as a back drop, I think it looked pretty fabulous.
It was such a fabulous day at The Arches, with lots of new enquiries – thanks to all who took time out of their busy weekends to come and see us all!
